The DDR Mini Spec frame is designed by Sander Puh, the creator of the legendary Drippuh frame — a familiar sight on our race tracks. Its design is inspired by key elements from the SpeedyPizzaDrones NEC and the Spec7 frame by Five33.
Spec racing is quickly growing in popularity, making drone racing even more exciting and engaging for spectators. With lower speed limits in this class, precision and control are crucial. Since all drones have the same top speed, races are often tight and packed with intense close-chasing action. To add a strategic element, we’ve introduced the option to use up to three speed boosts per race.
The frame is designed to be used with a custom 3D-printed canopy. For those looking for a different aesthetic or feel, a conversion kit is available that replaces the canopy with a carbon top plate, giving the drone the sleek look of a mini-sized Spec7. However, please note that use of the canopy is mandatory to participate in DDR Mini Spec races and competitions.
The Canopy
The updated canopy features several thoughtful enhancements to meet the demands of modern racing. It now includes a dedicated slot for an LED strip, allowing for a full canopy illumination especially in low-light or confined environments.
The analog VTX mount has been replaced with a HDZero Race3-compatible mount, and inserts have been added to support the HDZero Nano 90 camera with 13mm lens. To ensure broad antenna compatibility, the new antenna mount includes inserts that support popular models such as the Triumph Pro, Rush Cherry II, Foxeer Micro Lollipop, and TrueRC Singularity.

For DDR Mini Spec races, pilots are required to use the Kaack version of Betaflight. The RPM limiter must be set to 17,500 to ensure consistent performance and fair competition. The boost feature should be enabled, adding an extra layer of strategy and excitement to each race.
